Hi, Readers! The Riverton Area Book Club has selected Love and Other Consolation Prizes, by Jamie Ford, for its next discussion on April 21, 2018, at the Riverton Village Library, 10 -11 am. This novel is the story of a young, half Chinese orphan boy named Ernest Young. In 1909 he visits Seattle’s Alaska-Yukon-Pacific exposition and finds himself raffled off to the madam of a brothel which, with its inhabitants, becomes his new home. By the time of Seattle’s second world’s fair in 1962 Ernest has his own family complete with secrets about identity that threaten the happiness of his wife and their two grown daughters.
